Emergency light testing frequency may vary, but generally sites have this carried out on an annual basis. This particular test is a 3 hour drain down test. Power is turned off to check that the emergency lighting activates and stays on for 3 hours.
A monthly flick test should also be done once per month, this is to ensure all emergency lighting illuminates when the mains power is switched off using your test key, and to check over the fitting covers to ensure they are clean and aren’t showing signs of damage. Once mains power is restored, check they are fully charging up again.
Usually monthly flick tests are carried out in house but the annual test is to be done by an external contractor, that’s where AGG come in!
